Simple straw bale house designs.. a la carte!

The idea is simple designs that are properly thought out, a sensible size and a set price. All designs are oriented with the bulk of the glass (double glazed) to the north for passive solar heating, and good flow-through southern ventilation for the cooling night-time breeze. Ceiling insulation at least r5. All these houses are built to be exceptionally cheap to heat and cool and pleasantly detailed to be friendly and nurturing for my fellow brothers and sisters.

Decisions about roof-style, heating options, solar energy, heat-recovery and earth-tube ventilation, and water storage and recycling systems have to be considered to suit your aspirations and circumstances. Unsewered sites require consideration of the various treatment systems available. Pergolas, verandas, carports and landscaping all need to be remembered too when budgeting your home.

Because different sites may have different "frontages" that suggest a formal street side, designs can be adapted to still have correct northern solar orientation but present an "entrance" side to the public approach.  This need not appreciably change the cost.

Connection to utilities is not included in these prices.
