This design incorporated straw bale  and corrugated iron construction on a steeply sloped block. A covenant insisted on a rendered or masonry street frontage so naturally I chose straw bale. The client specified an unusual "harled" effect of small quartz pebble thrown into the top layer of lime render. Quite a challenge. Interior shows conventional lime render finish. Note the window ledges in the straw bale wall.
